Hmmm. What is the model of your laptop?
Check first if it can support your upgrade plan... |

192mb or physical ram translates to 256mb or real physical ram minus the video card ram it uses. You can't install win 7 on it. It has a big probability of being a ddr1 module which is old. There is not that much old hardware on the shops, your call.

I think the problem is with your RAM, what RAM you are using? You can use 1GB if it is supported by the mother board of your system.

There is sdram/rdram for Pentium 3 systems, ddr1 mainly for Pentium 4 systems, ddr2 for the present generation of processors. Those are just of the same time it was released. Also, the ram on laptops are called sodimm and they are shorter dwarfed versions of the real ram on PC's.

Sell the laptop and buy another one, problem sofved. There is nothing much to do with legacy hardware these days especially with the requirements of newer operating systems.
